Keep it Goin' California!

California's Utilities and Commerce Committee has passed a bill to prohibit the sale of incandescent light bulbs in stores by 2012. Although, it's still a long way from reality since it has to go through the Appropriations Committee and then the General Assembly. As happy as I am to see California taking steps to reduce the environmental impact of lighting this is just a date for the end of an already accelerating trend. The transition to CFL's is a logical switch for consumers and businesses alike over the next five years with increased energy savings. I am happy to see California cares but I doubt this bill will have a large impact on the adoption of CFL's. In contrast laws like these bring a lot of awareness to the market place and will likely drive consumers to start paying attention to their lighting needs. Thanks California for continuing to be forward thinking. You can read the full article here.
